Cameroon’s Coach Emmanuel Ndoumbe Bosso had called up 25 players to start preparing for the encounter this Wednesday, but has been asked on Tuesday night by his management to call off the preparation.
“I am currently at training in Bamenda, with my club Yong Sport Academy. My management has informed me on Tuesday around 20h00 that Gabon refused to play, as the money allocated for that match had already been spent and they were already focused on preparing for the CHAN.
“Gabon also stated that they cannot be informed on a Wednesday about a match in Yaoundé the following Sunday,” told Bosso to MTNFootball.com.
So the national coach decided to send back all the players already present in Yaoundé, and informed the others that the match had been called off.
Initially scheduled for the 6th of July, that game could not be played as FIFA had suspended the Cameroonian Football Association two days earlier.
First, CAF gave the match 3-0 to Gabon, but then decided to reschedule it after FIFA had lift their ban on Cameroon last Monday.
The consequences of that second cancellation in a row are still unknown.
