After four training camps in and out of the country, the final list of players to defend the country in the Junior World Cup has been released. The list of 21 was published last Saturday, September 19 by the coach of the national under 20-football team, Alain Wabo. The 21 were short listed from an initial list of 25 players who were retained after training sessions in the country and in Turkey.

The list is made up of 12 players who took part in the African Cup of Nations in Rwanda 2009 and four home-based players. Five new players were included in the squad. Among the home-based players are two players of Canon Yaounde including François Beyokol and Effa. There is also Thierry Tanguatio from Cercle sportif of Elig-Edzoa and Brice Owona.

The under 20 lions who took up residence some 80 kilometres away from the Suez canal in Ismaelia, defeated the United Arab emirates 3-0 in a friendly match in Istanbul while on transit in Turkey and another while Egypt. They were humbled back in the country 0-1 by union of Douala prior to their departure for Egypt on September 13.

While awaiting the arrival of officials of FECAFOOT and the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education, the Boys of Alain Wabo continue fine-tuning their skills in preparation for the first encounter against South Korea next September 26. They are scheduled to play some friendly matches while in Egypt. Cameroon, alongside Ghana and Nigeria, qualified for the tournament by picking one of the three available tickets during the last African Youth Championship where they bowed to Ghana 0-2 in the final. Egypt qualified for the tournament automatically as host country. Cameroon was drawn in Group C alongside the United States of America, Korea and Germany.
