At 10:20 A.M, on  Tuesday, their bundle of joy, weighing in at 9 pounds and 9 ounces and 23 inches long, arrived 12 days early (he was due on Sept. 21) to join his parents and big bro Xen, 8.

“My baby is sooooo beautiful,” Campbell Martin told ESSENCE.com exclusively. “He can’t fit newborn clothes; he’s wearing clothes for 3-month-olds. His cheeks are so fat. He is so healthy. He is just perfect.”

A month ago, Campbell-Martin told ESSENCE.com that she was put on bed rest for the last month of her pregnancy. Initially, the new mom, who admits that she and her hubby planned their second bundle of joy, worried that she might have complications with the baby when she experienced bleeding in her first trimester and high blood pressure toward the end, but was eventually given a thumbs-up by her doctor.

And she expects that motherhood will be easier the second time around.

“At 40, I have so much more to offer as a mom,” she told ESSENCE.com. “Xen gave me so many gifts; it was such a learning experience. I’m hoping for the best in health with my baby. It’s not going to be as hard as it was with Zen. As much as Duane and I make light of his autism, it was not an easy fight, but we fought it. I’ve been praying for it and believe that it will be easier this time around. But regardless of the challenge, I believe God will never give me more than I can handle and I find peace and comfort in knowing that.”

Campbell-Martin, who stars in Lifetime Television’s dramedy “Rita Rocks,” says her pregnancy didn’t interfere with her role because it was incorporated into the script.

“Both me and my costar Nicole Sullivan were pregnant so they worked it in by making my character an emotional eater,” Campbell-Martin told ESSENCE.com with a laugh. “I don’t have a man, so I eat my troubles away. I told the producers it was really important that they make fun of me and my weight before anyone else [in the media] has a chance to, because if you don’t they most certainly will. I don’t want people to take offense to it at all. It’s hilarious!”
