The president of CAF Issa Hayatou is recuperating in a Cairo hospital after collapsing at the ongoing FIFA/CAF World Cup conference.

The 64-year-old was kept under observation on Thursday night and is likely to attend the closing sessions of the conference later on Friday.

“The condition of Hayatou is stable. He has suffered from stress in the past but now he is in good health,” CAF media director Suleiman Habuba told The Associated Press.

The Cameroonian has been at the helm of affairs for 23 years.
